Gini Dodds, Mellowdrama (Narnian Records 2000) - Here's a hot broad from my old home town. Gini Dodds, hailing from the Twin Cities, can belt out a rock and roll song. On Mellowdrama, Dodds provides vocals, guitars, and keyboards, and is joined by other Minneapolis musicians, including John Wright on bass, Jeff Rogers on drums, and Mark Lickteig on organ. The album was recorded at Palette Productions and Aurora Borealis Studios in Minneapolis. The band also includes C. C. Seymour, and Rollo Jones. Gini says that she's inspired by such artists as Ray Davies of the Kinks and Lucinda Williams. Gini also performs with a full band, the Dahlias. While the album includes some more balled-oriented tracks (such as "Dry Ground"), Dodds sails when she lets loose on such up tempo rockers as "Sweet Christine" and "Save Me."
